Resources for Faculty & Staff

Career Integration is the intentional inclusion within academic coursework and experiences of ways for students to identify, articulate and apply the foundational skills learned through a degree from the College of Letters & Science. SuccessWorks is committed to supporting L&S departments in this vital work.

These Career Integration resources for faculty and staff complement existing course materials, showing students how to realize the lifelong value of their degrees.

New for Instructors: Alumni Course Speakers

Bring alumni speakers into your L&S classes virtually to inspire students and help them connect the skills they’re learning to pathways for post-graduate success. Vetted L&S alumni are prepared to speak about one or both of these popular topics:

  • Major & Degree: Students learn about skills they gain from their L&S majors and degree, plus how a liberal arts and sciences education can support their professional pathways after graduation.
  • Career Path: Students learn from alumni about their career paths, current work, industry trends, and what they should know about starting out in specific fields.

How it Works:

  1. Tell us about your class and what types of alumni perspective or experience you’re looking for.
  2. SuccessWorks invites alumni from our list of 130+ quality, vetted alumni mentors.
  3. We connect you with the alumni so you can work together on logistics and tailoring their virtual visit to your class.

L&S Major Skills & Outcomes Resources

SuccessWorks partners with faculty and staff in every L&S major to create Skills & Outcomes resources, listing each major’s transferable skills, common alumni jobs and employers, and words of advice from alumni who have found success in a wide range of fulfilling career paths.

Your department has already made an important investment in creating these resources in partnership with SuccessWorks. We can also help you make the most of them with students. Department faculty and staff can use Skills & Outcomes resources to:

  • Advise and teach students more confidently on what they are learning in their major and why it matters
  • Spark students’ imaginations for possible career paths
  • Build students’ confidence in the career outcomes of their major
  • Make referrals to SuccessWorks advising, programs and other valuable career resources

Major Skills & Outcomes resources are also an integral part of the Syllabus Language and Course Materials available above.
