Canvas Module: Resume Writing

The SuccessWorks Resume Writing module gives you an easy way to supplement career learning inside and outside the classroom.

Easy to add to existing course syllabi: This module is a one-hour free-standing unit that can be uploaded into your own canvas courses.

Build these into your regular lesson plan, or as a last-minute replacement if conferences, meetings or other events take you away from the classroom unexpectedly.

Add to Your Syllabus

To use the resume module in your course, simply download the module below, then upload it into your own Canvas course. We’ll walk you through the steps: 

  1. Download this compressed file to your computer: successworks-career-development-modules-export. Imscc
  2. Open the Canvas course into which you wish to import the module.
  3. In Settings, select Import Course Content (button on the right).
  4. From the Content Type drop-down box, select Canvas Course Export Package.
  5. Use the Choose File button to locate and select the file successworks-career-development-modules-export.imscc that you downloaded in Step 1.
  6. Select All Content, then Import.
  7. Once the upload is complete, the Resume Module will appear at the bottom of your course modules. Simply drag it into your course schedule wherever you wish!

Share Directly With Students

Students don’t need to be in your class to enroll in the Resume Writing Canvas Module! Share this link directly with students you instruct or advise to give them access to the module. 

Here are some ideas for how to share this module:

  • Offer extra credit for completion
  • Share in one-on-one advising appointments, or in broad advising communications
  • Share with student organizations, clubs or other student groups you work with/advise
  • Add the module as a career resource on your department’s website
