Public Health & Environment Experience: Researching a Stream Segment with Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District

January 19, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Want to do something productive over winter break to move forward in your career goals? All majors are invited to participate in this case study simulation to learn, explore, and experience what it’s like to work in a professional field.

Interested in careers in public health, environmental studies and advocacy, biology, and/or other areas of STEM? In this simulated case study experience, you’ll work in small groups with other students to solve a real-world problem: finding out why a stream segment’s water quality is impaired. You’ll collect data, create a fact sheet supporting your findings, come up with a plan to address the stream impairment, and communicate your findings in a short presentation.

Along the way, you’ll engage with and learn from real professionals in the field: Senior Project Managers and Water Resources Specialists from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District!
