Diplomatic Internships & Fellowships for Students

Students and recent grads of all majors are invited to join this live Zoom session to learn from Ron Packowitz, the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomat in Residence for the Midwest. You’ll learn about Ron’s experiences from his 20-year career as a Foreign Service Officer, plus get the inside scoop about State Department careers, internships, and graduate fellowship opportunities.

Opportunities include:

VSFS – Virtual Student Federal Service:
This program for undergraduate students includes hundreds of opportunities in a variety of internationally-focused federal offices and agencies (examples: https://vsfs.state.gov/projects). Internships are completed virtually through the academic year, 10 hours/week. Applications open July 1st-31st

Pickering and Rangel Fellowships: These opportunities fully fund graduate school and kick-start a career in the foreign service.
