Design Thinking Experience: Problem Solving for a Creative Small Business

July 20, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Get career learning experience this summer! All majors are invited to participate in this case study simulation to learn, explore, and experience what it’s like to work in a professional field.

In this case study experience, you’ll learn about Design Thinking and apply this skill in a simulated scenario for Revel, a Madison-based creative small business. Design thinking is the process of innovation to solve complex problems using creativity, critical thinking, and human-centered innovation, and it’s a skill that’s increasingly sought after by employers in today’s marketplace.

Participants will:

  • Learn about and practice using design thinking
  • Receive support from mentors who are specially training in and use design thinking in their professional work
  • Work in teams with other students to create a presentation about using design thinking to explore a growth opportunity for Revel.

No prior knowledge is required, and all majors are invited to participate to explore this creative problem-solving process used across industries and job roles in today’s workforce. This case study may be of particular interest to students attracted to entrepreneurship and/or arts. The practical skills and experience you develop as a result of participating in this case study will be an asset for you while seeking professional opportunities during college and after graduation.
